Cat Care Calling is a dance performance that begins with a question:
“How do we turn an act of violence into an act of care?”
Cat-calling today, it includes verbal or gestural harassment (whistling, vulgar compliments, unsolicited remarks, sexist insults, loud comments, honking, rude jokes) in public spaces. Cat Care Calling shapes practices inspired by a video archive selected by Raffaella. Giselda’s ‘embodiment’ extracts and reinterprets gestures and voices of cat-calling victims and perpetrators. The mimetic choreographic practice raises questions of participation and responsibility, while Giselda’s body is transformed into a living archive that leads to personal empowerment, where care is seen as a vindication of one’s own power.
